Are We There Yet?

I am one of the fortunate people that really, really likes to travel!...anywhere and everywhere. Bring on the adventure!
Every summer, my family would pack up the brown wood grain station wagon and head out on a road-trip hunting for adventure. We travelled east and west and north and south. The direction didn't matter. My Dad had only one daily essential: as a family we had to see something interesting, educational and historic.
Needless to say 'educational' and 'historic' were not a priority for me and my siblings but we compromised. We let my Mom and Dad show us some truly amazing sites across Canada and the US. In return for our good behaviour and pretended interest we got to sleep in a motel with a pool and slide. Travel was 'neat' and 'interesting.'
From those early family vacations the travel gene imbedded itself in my DNA.
Like most travellers, not unlike my Dad, my travel routine evolved. My Dad needed to see something 'interesting,' 'educational,' and 'historic.' I added a further necessity-the daily ritual of enjoying the local culture and foreign ambiance of my location over a local cup of the regions authentic coffee tastes.
Those moments of travel, adventure and discovery are tied closely to that brown elixir we all enjoy.
Over the next few months, I would like to share a few of my most memorable cups of coffee. I would also like you to share yours. Email your story to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are we there yet? The adventure is just beginning.
